We are Lutheran

We are named after Martin Luther, the church reformer of the 16th Century. We are members of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We believe in One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior both God and human, crucified and risen from the dead

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God given to us so we can know what God wants and what God has done for us in Jesus

We believe that God comes to us in both the spoken Word and the two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion

In Baptism,

God comes to us and is present in water through the Holy Spirit and joins us in His church

In Holy Communion,

God comes to us and is present through Bread and Wine which is the true Body and Blood of Christ

At Holy Trinity:

We believe that Jesus is the host at our table and extends the invitation to all who have been baptized and received their First Communion.

All are welcome at Holy Trinity.  As members of the congregation, we strive to become disciples of Jesus and to join in God’s work in the world.

Membership:

Baptized members are those who have been baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Confirmed members are those who have been instructed and have affirmed their Baptism, traditionally in the 8th grade.

Voting members are those confirmed members over the age of 18 who are allowed voice and vote at congregation meetings.

The Church Council is comprised of the Pastor and twelve members of the congregation, elected at the Annual Congregation meeting.

Every Lutheran congregation is an independent unit knit together with other churches through participation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Contributions of members are the sole support of the work of the congregation, the Pastor, and all operating expenses.
